Introducing Our New CEO

Introducing our new CEO

Prior to Christmas, Mr Peter McOrist was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Hendersons.  Peter comes with a wealth of experience in education and management from a wide range of school settings not only in Australia but also abroad.

Having moved around country Victoria with his family during his own schooling, Peter moved to Melbourne to study primary teaching.  After a short stint as a mathematics and science teacher at Salesian College, Rupertswood, he then worked at Wesley College in Elseternwick for a number of years, where he was initially a Physical Education specialist teacher before having leadership roles as Head of PE, Campus Sports Manager, Head of Middle School and then Deputy Head of Campus.  In 2006, he and his wife (who is also a teacher) moved to London to broaden their careers.  Peter was Deputy Head at two central London Prep Schools over a seven year period, namely Broomwood Hall School and Eaton Square School.  To further look at international educational trends and get another global perspective, Peter then took on the role as Assistant Principal at Seoul Foreign School in South Korea for two years.  His most recent position was back in London as the Deputy Head, Pastoral as well as Head of Seniors at the Knightsbridge School, where he had responsibility for the preparation of students for future schools including Eton College, St Paul’s Girls School, King’s College Wimbledon, Latymer Upper School, Harrodian and Westminster School to name a few.

Peter is excited about the opportunities and challenges of working at Hendersons and is looking forward to getting to know some of the families that have used the company to help their children prepare for examinations and attended the various workshops.

Soon after starting he commented that;

“As soon as I began at Hendersons, I was struck by the professional nature of all the teachers and office staff and the care and understanding that was taken with each and every child as they strive to achieve their goals.  The teachers and tutors are extremely knowledgeable in their specialist areas and it is a very exciting time to be joining the organisation and to be part of such a supportive educational environment.”
