English Skills

These courses are intended to give sustained experience in English skills, as many students seem to have little opportunity to develop and practise these.

Snapshot Series

Four of the courses are intended for years 3/4.  Another four courses are intended for years 5/6.

Aims: To improve students’ total literacy skills so that they can write in a diverse number of ways in response to a variety of needs.

Format: Currently each course consists of six modules. During the course the student will cover the following components:

  • writing skills
  • reading comprehension
  • vocabulary enrichment and word usage
  • grammar, punctuation and parts of speech

Reading and writing should be done in a context to have meaning, so we create a theme for each of the courses.
Courses may be taken individually, but a sequence of courses will provide ongoing tuition for those who wish to pursue English development, over a period of time.
We have had many students enrol in all four courses at the same year level and have made great progress this way.
