As the summer school holidays approach, it's a critical time for students to recharge, but it's also an opportunity to prepare for upcoming entrance and scholarship exams. With the right balance of relaxation and strategic study, your child can set themselves up to be in the best position possible for their exam, whether that’s 2 months away, or 12.
Here are 5 ways to help your child prepare for an entrance or scholarship exam over the school holiday break:
1. Create a realistic study schedule
Balance is key here - when scheduling study time (whether that be workshops, practice exams or home study), make sure students have time to relax and recharge in between. Downtime can help improve mood and boost performance, so it's just as important as study time. Hendersons workshops run for half days (approx. 3.5 to 4 hours), and we strongly recommend only taking one workshop per day, to avoid overloading and allow students important time to relax and reset.
2. Parents: prepare yourself!
3. Use Bonus Materials
4. Book in practice exams
5. Seek feedback
The summer school holidays present a unique opportunity for students to make productive use of their time and prepare for upcoming exams. By combining effective study techniques, using bonus resources and leveraging feedback from entrance and scholarship practice exams, your child can take significant steps towards preparing for their exam.
If you're travelling over the break, Hendersons offers workshops online too, so your child doesn't miss the opportunity to keep up their preparations.
